*1
Measurement from tripod fulcrum to camera. Depending upon specific camera, actual length to lens will be slightly longer.
*2 Tail length includes weights that extend beyond actual jib tail.
*3 Underslung measurements dependent upon tripod height and actual camera.
*4 Riser size depends on swing of arm - given measurements are for 180 degree swing. Using conventional 4' x 8' riser sections will result in larger footprint. If the jib is to be placed on a platform/riser, it must support at least 500kgs.
*5 If a security barricade is to be constructed around the jib arm: an 11ft x 11ft barricade is advised for STANDARD mode (6ft reach) thru GIANT mode (12ft reach); a 20ft x 20ft barricade is advised for GIANT PLUS mode(15ft reach) thru SUPER PLUS mode (24ft reach). Built at EXTREME (30ft reach mode) the Security Barricade should be at least 25ft x 25ft. A security barricade is strongly advised at most venues where the crowd is near the jib. These barricades will make the shot possible for the jib operator and will add protection to the jib operator and the jib.

Please contact us if you have any questions about jib placement.  We can place our jibs in smaller locations, such as opera box seats.  Location scouts are available.

SETUP

Set up time for the Jimmy Jib Triangle usually takes about 40 – 90 minutes, depending on the load in. We recommend allowing at least 2 hours for set up because of basic production logistics (unloading, parking, site survey) Please note that this is an estimated time and can be either shorter or longer based on jib size, optional jib accessories (360 degree Dutch head), and jib placement (roofs and auditorium balconies might require some more time). The Jimmy Jib Triangle can support a camera weighing up to 50 lbs/25Kg.

JIB TRANSPORT

Infocus TV Ltd. transports the jib in a box trailer (6’ 6.5” high) This vehicle is to be considered a production vehicle and all parking must be provided/paid for at the venue (2 spaces required). It is strongly advised to keep the jib vehicle parked near or at the load in/out area if possible.

JIB ASSIST

Some jobs MAY require Infocus TV Ltd. to provide its own jib assist/utility for set up/load out days or the whole show. This all depends on the type of job at hand.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

Cinematic Experience, Inc. offers you the following optional equipment for our Jimmy Jib Triangle:

  • OPTIONAL (360 degree) DUTCH HEAD: (CALL FOR PRICING)
  • OPTIONAL CINE STYLE ZOOM & FOCUS (for 32 pitch lenses): (CALL FOR PRICING)
  • OPTIONAL HD MONITOR (required for HD SHOOTS): (PART OF HD PRICING).

MULTI-CAM SWITCHED SHOWS

Depending on your camera and truck, at least 50 ft of Triax or SMPTE Fiber Optic cable should be dropped at the base of the jib. Power needs to be provided for the jib. The Jimmy Jib Triangle needs at least 50 ft. of 16A 240V AC Power to be placed at the base of the jib. This needs to be a safely grounded and dedicated line for the JIB and its components. Sharing this power with a lighting dimming board or other electronics could affect camera transmission. Infocus TV Ltd. cannot be held liable for any disruption or corruption to any electronic systems (whether it be equipment belonging to Infocus TV Ltd or 3rd party equipment.) that could be caused by a faulty AC line.

LENSES

For the Jimmy Jib we provide lens control for Canon and Fujinon ENG/EFP style lenses.  Lens controls for other lenses, such as Nikon, Angenieux or Film Lenses can be provided for an additional fee.

We strongly recommend a wide angle zoom thru lens for your production, giving our jib arm the look of a larger sweep. If you have questions about certain wide angle lenses, ask us. However, this decision of lens choice is ultimately yours to make.

HIGH DEFINITION MULTI-CAM SWITCHED SHOWS

HIGH DEFINITION ENG/EFP SHOOTS

Please notify us beforehand if your project is a High Definition shoot.  We will provide an HD monitor that accepts HD-SDI or HD Component inputs.

PROGRAM VIDEO

Infocus TV Ltd. requests that a program video be run from the truck or an alternate source other then the camera, if possible. If so, 50 ft BNC drop should be placed at the base of the jib. If this is not an option for your crew, Infocus TV Ltd. can pull program video from the back of the camera (via prompter out, if the truck engineers are properly set up for that). If this is a High Definition shoot, the PROGRAM VIDEO ONLY may need to be down-converted by your engineers to either SDi or composite PAL.

HEADSET

If possible, a double muff headset is requested. For communication a techpro ring (belt pack) or Wireless system is required since the camera is physically far away from the operator. If a techpro wired system is to be used, 50 ft of XLR cable needs to be placed at the base of the jib.

PLATFORM / RISER

If the jib is to be placed on a platform/riser, it must support at least 1500 lbs / 680Kg.
The platform is the responsibility of the lessee / client and must be inspected and approved by the lessee / client in order for Infocus TV Ltd to proceed with the assembly of the Jimmy Jib Triangle Arm.

SECURITY BARRICADE

If a security barricade is to be constructed around the jib arm: an 11ft x 11ft barricade is advised for STANDARD mode (6ft reach) thru GIANT mode (12ft reach); a 20ft x 20ft barricade is advised for GIANT PLUS mode (15ft reach) thru SUPER PLUS mode (24ft reach). Built at EXTREME (30ft reach mode) the Security Barricade should be at least 25ft x 25ft. A security barricade is strongly advised at most venues where the crowd is near the jib. These barricades will make the shot possible for the jib camera operator and will add protection to the jib operator and the jib.

Infocus TV Ltd knows that taking up too much real estate at an event is a concern for your production company, and will keep this in mind. However, please note that further restrictions in security barricade dimensions can effect the length of the jib arm. Infocus TV Ltd advises and requests (if possible) the presence of at least one security guard (with the ability to radio for backup) at most major events.

TELEPROMPTER

If your production will be utilizing a teleprompter, please inform your teleprompter crew that they should carry a variety of sized cables. We recommend that any cables running up the jib arm to the teleprompter/camera should be at least 75ft in length. This will cover the run from the camera, down the arm and to the teleprompter work station, which must be placed away from the jib operator’s swing radius. Any cables needed for the teleprompter MUST be provided by your teleprompter crew. It is advised that the teleprompter is small LCD (without glass hood) mounted above or below the lens. This is purely a safety issue.

ENG / EFP SHOOTS ONLY

AC POWER or DC POWER? (ENG/EFP SHOOTS ONLY)

AC power is good to have around, however, Infocus TV Ltd has the ability to run the Jimmy Jib Triangle and our Panasonic 17” LCD HD-SDi monitor and/or 7” teletest monitor off battery power for the day. This option of powering the jib via battery is ONLY TO BE USED FOR ENG/EFP SHOOTS, NOT MULTI-CAM SWITCHED SHOOTS. Multiple day ENG/EFP shoots will require over night charging. Infocus TV Ltd will NOT be able to provide power for your camera or audio mixer, only the jib and its colour monitor. Please note, providing AC power for the jib will always still be the best option.

LENSES

For the Jimmy Jib we provide lens control for Canon and Fujinon ENG/EFP style lenses.  Lens controls for other lenses, such as Nikon, Angenieux or Film Lenses can be provided for an additional fee.

FILM LENSES/PRIME LENSES

If your production is planning on using prime lenses or film style zoom lenses, Infocus TV Ltd will be required to bring along an optional film style zoom/focus gears. These gears only work on lenses with 32 pitch gear teeth. We have the ability to pull focus and zoom the lens, but not run iris with these style lenses. Alternatively a radio follow focus system can be provided at additional cost.

AUDIO TO THE JIB CAMERA (ENG/EFP SHOOTS ONLY)

If your shoot plans on running audio to the camera on the jib, at least 75ft of XLR cable for EACH channel (to be placed at the base of the jib) will need to be provided by your audio department. Or wireless audio components are recommended. Please note that your audio personnel will NOT be able to do direct audio monitoring WHILE RECORDING unless he/she has at least 75 ft of head phone cable to run up the jib arm and to the camera. Infocus TV Ltd does however, have a 30m extension for SQN 4 series4 mixer including return audio.

TELEPROMPTER

If your production will be utilizing a teleprompter, please inform your teleprompter crew that they should carry a variety of sized cables. We recommend that any cables running up the jib arm to the teleprompter/camera should be at least 75ft in length. This will cover the run from the camera, down the arm and to the teleprompter workstation, which must be placed away from the jib operator’s swing radius. Any cables needed for the teleprompter MUST be provided by your teleprompter crew.
